In short: Lexora stores account information, saved practice, submitted writing, scores, transcripts, and feedback. Speaking audio is processed for evaluation; the Lexora database does not store the raw audio file.
Information Lexora handles
- Account details such as email address, display name, country or region, and test focus.
- Saved practice state, submitted answers, scores, timestamps, task types, and progress history.
- Writing responses and their rubric-based evaluation results.
- Speaking transcripts, scores, feedback, and response metadata after evaluation.
Authentication
Email accounts use a verification code during signup and login. Passwords are stored as one-way password hashes rather than readable passwords. Verification challenges and password-reset sessions are stored temporarily to complete the requested account action.
Speaking recordings
Regular Speaking practice
The current recording is held in page memory and sent through Lexora's Firebase function to the AI evaluation provider. Lexora stores the resulting transcript, score, and feedback in your account, but does not write the raw recording to its Firestore database or cloud file storage.
Mock tests
Mock-test recordings are temporarily stored in your browser's IndexedDB so an unfinished test or interrupted evaluation can continue. A raw local recording is removed after that response is successfully evaluated. If evaluation fails or the test is abandoned, it may remain on that device until evaluation succeeds or you clear Lexora's site data.
Audio sent for evaluation is also processed by the external AI provider. Provider-side handling is governed by that provider's service configuration and policies; Lexora does not claim that provider processing creates no temporary retention.
Browser storage and guest use
Guest answers and navigation state can be stored in your browser using local storage. Signed-in progress is also synchronized to your account. Clearing browser site data removes device-only records but does not automatically delete information already saved to your account.
Service providers
Lexora currently uses Firebase for authentication, database, hosting, and server functions; an SMTP provider for verification email delivery; and OpenAI for eligible Writing and Speaking evaluations. Information is sent to these services only as needed to operate those features.
Retention and your choices
Saved account and practice records remain available so progress, feedback, and unfinished work can be restored. Account deletion is not currently self-service. To request access or deletion during prelaunch testing, use the support channel through which you received access to Lexora.
Policy updates
This page is separated from the application so the policy can be updated as storage, providers, and account controls change. Material changes should be reflected here before the related feature is released.
